Mary Beth Baish-Westin, OTR/L

Mary Beth Baish-Westin, Occupational Therapist, is a 1982 magna cum laude graduate from Mount Aloysius College with an Associate of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy and a 1991 magna cum laude graduate from College Misericordia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. Mary Beth has been specialty trained in sensory processing and neuro-development treatment from Sensory Integration International and the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association (NDTA), respectively. She also received her board certification as a pediatric specialist from the American Occupational Therapy Association in 1998. Mary Beth has had experiences in out-patient and in-patient occupational therapy for adults and children, sitting on the Head Injury Team at Health south Rehabilitation Hospital, Altoona, as well as management positions at Easter Seals Altoona and Valley View Home Altoona. Mary Beth has focused her occupational therapy profession toward pediatrics over the past 25 years with experiences at The Erie County Crippled Children and Learning Disability Center, Allentown Mental Health Institute for children and Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh. Mary Beth has worked in school districts throughout the Blair, Bedford, Huntington, Cambria, Indiana and Erie counties. She was involved in the establishment of the occupational therapy program at the Huntingdon County P.R.I.D.E. Office and co-established the “SensorySays” approach combining both occupational therapy and speech therapy approaches for the treatment of children, especially those with Autism. Mary Beth received the Autism Society-Blair county Chapter Certificate of Appreciation, the Blair County Learning Disabilities Association Annual Appreciation Award and Altoona AMBUCS Therapist of the Year Award. Mary Beth has guest lectured at St. Francis University, Mount Aloysius College, Penn State-Altoona and various local schools, parent support groups, early intervention groups and autism seminars. Mary Beth has served on advisory boards for Mount Aloysius, St. Francis, and the Blair County Autism Task Force. Mary Beth is a member of POTA, AOTA, and the Autism Society of America.
